Case was seen as major test of the first amendment and whether the US could use broad anti-terrorism statute to prosecute leftwing protesters

T-minus 8 months until people actually start to become concerned there I guess.

I guess you haven’t paid attention to those of us who have been fighting against this shit as we’re able for well over two decades. I guess you don’t see the gradual increase in awareness.

Has it led to ovethrowing everything yet? No, but a lot of people are fucking concerned. So you guess wrong.

It is, however, a shithole, yes. And if I could get out, I fucking would.

I really hate to minimize the very real efforts you’re talking about. From the outside, it’s just…too much. It’s gone way too far, the damage being done is way over the line. I can say with 100% certainty that if this was happening where I am, we would be burning things to ground by now. That’s the frustrating part.

I just don’t know how the American people (I’m not including MAGA in that) expect the rest of the world to care or help when, as a nation, you’re not helping yourselves.

I’m not saying nobody is trying, but I am saying that looking at things at the nation-state level, you guys are going to be looked at as the enemy, and also won’t attract much outside help, if you can’t find a way to make real progress against this blatant fascism, peaceful or otherwise.

      It’s a shit situation.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but if you aren’t from the US you probably don’t understand. We don’t generally have the same protections workers in other countries have. There’s no guaranteed sick days or PTO. Healthcare is usually tied to - or at least heavily subsidized by - your employment. Education has been defunded for decades. Housing costs are so high and minimum wages so low that many struggle to afford rent, let alone get onto the property ownership ladder.

On the contrary, entertainment is relatively cheap and plentiful. Even those in poverty are generally able to escape their woes temporarily with the TV or online. The system is designed to keep people helpless and complacent, and it’s been working beautifully from the perspective of the ruling class.

What this all results in is people with jobs that barely pay enough to afford to meet their basic needs, and can’t go without work because they can’t afford the risk of no healthcare or income, and aren’t inclined or educated enough to better their situations.

Oh, so that’s why so many financial fake gurus come from America. It’s the perfect audience for false hope. People are so desperate and uneducated that they’ll buy anything, even BS books and useless courses.

This is the actual answer, along with decades of right wing propaganda pumped into our ecosystem after Citizens United.

We have been cooked for a while now. Some people see it, but it’s not the majority, not by a long shot.

We are urging you to help yourselves, before it’s too late for you too. You can tut-tut us all you like for not stopping it before, but now it’s happening and it’s a problem you’re going to have to solve. Don’t think you’ll be safe if you just sit there bitching about how you’re not gonna do anything about it because we didn’t do enough.

It sure is a problem we have to solve but in no way should that or will that involve helping America.

In fact the best way we can help you is by expediting the consequences of your actions.

I could give two shits if I have to eat rice and beans for a couple of years…if it means that something will actually be done about a literal pedophile/malignant narcissist/wannabe fascist president and the political party and the electorate that are supporting him.

What a pathetic and impotent attitude. I already said it was yourselves, not us Americans, that you should be helping. For that matter, it’s not like you personally are going to do anything about it. No, that’s a job for more responsible citizens. You’re just enjoying this opportunity to laugh at a man on fire, while he’s stumbling in your direction.

Yeah so in that analogy, everyone told the man not to douse themselves in gasoline, and then told him to stay away from sparks, and then told him no, lighting a match is not a good idea, then watched as he lit himself on fire. And now that he’s stumbling towards us, the best move is to kill him before he reaches us.

I like it, thank you for that.
