    The problem is that you’re still paying for it. And on top of this, it’s essentially e-waste that could otherwise just be a blank slot.

      Yeah, that’s why I said “free”.

      And yeah, it’s an unnecessary piece of minor electronics, but co.pared to similar piece these have long lifespans and low energy usage.

      A computer is expensive enough that it will likely eventually be recycled and everything is likely recyclable.

      Like, not doing it would be better, but caring about these from an environmental perspective is wasted energy that would be better spent elsewhere
