kbin isn’t Lemmy! It’s separate, but they talk to each other. It’s another Fediverse app that uses activitypub. You can use your kbin account to comment on mastodon, pixelfed, peertube etc too!
Oh I see, so kbin is an instance in its own right that uses activitypub and that’s what links it to other instances that use it too? I think I’ll go watch some videos explaining all of this, maybe on PeerTube instead of YouTube ;)
How comes it doesn’t give any results for the magazines on kbin but it does for the other instances?

Bingo! And because it uses AP, it can talk to Lemmy just fine
kbin is a different app, not a Lemmy instance. It’s its own thing entirely! ActivityPub allows kbin to talk to other apps, like Lemmy.
