Somewhat offtopic: the second pic is Mercedes-Benz CLR racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1999. There were three of those cars, and they had problems with the aerodynamics, straight up taking off sometimes. Namely, Mark Webber’s car crashed in qualifying and then again in the race it flipped and landed on its roof. About four hours later, Peter Dumbreck’s car in the photo did several flips and flew over the barriers. As a result, Mercedes not only withdrew the third car, but cancelled the development of CLR and abandoned sports car racing altogether. Plus there were changes to Le Mans regulations and the circuit itself.
