A social worker’s report attached to the complaint said the couple was asked how they would feel if a child in their care identified as LGBTQ or struggled with their gender identity. Kitty Burke responded by saying “let’s take the T out of it” and called gender-affirming care “chemical castration,” according to the report.

Corrected headline: Massachusetts couple rejected as candidate foster parents after reciting hate slogans and promising to deny medical care to children in their care.

Technically, hormone blockers are chemical castration. DMPA (Depo-Provera) is used both as chemical castration and as part of HRT for trans women.

But that doesn’t change that these people are shitty transphobes. Also chemical castration is terrible too.

Who cares? Their point is to treat gender dysphoria, they don’t fucking want their nuts anymore

Is DMPA used in the same dosage for HRT and chemical castration? If HRT is less, then it’s not chemical castration. Hell, even if the dosage is the same, if the intended effect is different, it’s not castration. That may be a side effect, but intent on drug prescriptions is important.

And for dosage variations, the dose makes the poison. Plenty of drugs are lethal in as little as twice the recommended dose. Hell, twice the daily max dose of acetaminophen can be lethal. And that’s OTC most places.

Puberty blockers aren’t, as they are used to delay puberty for those with precocious puberty. They don’t chemically castrate at all.

Taking hormone replacement medicine though will likely have that effect, but that isn’t done until someone is an adult.
