This is a genuine question, as every time I have an argument about this with someone they bring a point so utterly stupid that it leaves me stumped…

      Depends on the context, in the Matrix, its a metaphor for HRT pills which at the time was colored pink/red, which has been confirmed by the Wachowskis.

      For the incel context, its “waking up” to female™ hypergamy and believing that every social institution and gender role is to serve the power of females™.

          There’s a lot of contexts that it “applies” to (read co-opted by right-wing reactionaries) that all tend to be "(insert historically poorly treated demographic) actually has all the power because wokeness/political correctness/affirmative action/globalists/socialists/communists/pedos in the nonexistent basement of a pizza parlor/feminism/the gays.

          The Wachowskis really hate that it was co-opted and used to sow further divisions between people.
