Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson joked there may be a place for Canada in the European Union to join “like-minded” nations as “the most Nordic country in the world outside the Nordics.”
To be fair Canada’s industrial capacity would help the EU both militarily and industrially not to mention their natural resources. If the EU can figure out a way to add Canada legally it would benefit both dramatically
It would also mean a lot more east-west infrastructure investment and more open cross border trade agreements between provinces. I can only think of upsides to this practically speaking. It’ll upset a lot of provincial industries that have been protected by trade barriers within Canada but it needs to be done… We can’t keep rent seeking forever…
