It is fitting that the Last Great Oil War (which I consider the Iran War as another “theater” of that attempted to distract and dilute from the turning tide in the Ukraine “theater”) has both sides in Ukraine turning to electric vehicles, it is a sign that this isn’t Just Another Oil War but part of an international last gasp of fossil fuel powers futilely clawing at the old paradigm as it crumbles.

They’re connected like everything is connected in the modern world. But they’re two separate wars started by two different madmen based on two separate delusions.
Seen from the standpoint of desparate moves made by oil oligarchs to preserve and consolidate regional power in a world where fossil fuels don’t necessarily automatically equate to power anymore because of batteries, alternative energy and most especially electric vehicles… they are part of the same reactionary impulse though they aren’t the same war. You can’t take this context out, it is no mistake all of a sudden Trump has no interceptors to give Ukraine it was a blatant geopolitical move to solidify Putin’s leverage over Ukraine and Europe even as the russian army collapses on the front.
Trump no doubt sees his kingmaking in Venezeula as just a more succesful version of the 3 day special operation in Ukraine, part of a ploy to lock down fossil fuel markets so as the market shrinks these oilgarchs can try to hold on to power and keep selling fossil fuels for as long as possible.
Putin launched the Ukraine War because russia was losing geopolitical power compared to Europe as the world moved on to alternative energy and the timing is unmistakable in its meaning, Putin likely believed that moment was russia’s last best chance to establish decisive leverage over territory west of it into Europe using fossil fuels.
Finally the end state for both the iran war and the Ukraine war both involve a de-emphasis of fossil fuels in favor of widespread decentralization of alternative energy on multiple scales and through various methods.
