I think it’ll do fine due to the Tacoma fan base and pedigree. The reason Maverick probably did so much better than Santa Cruz is that people buying it saw the Ford badge and thought they were buying a truck, or at least that other people would think they’re buying a truck. They didn’t want their friends laughing at them for buying a Santa Cruz and being a f@g. That’s the US for you.
Now if Subaru made a new Baja or another ute there might be some competition but Hyundai just doesn’t have that pedigree. If somebody wants an Asian unibody truck they’ll probably get a Ridgeline cuz at least their friends will just call them a b!tch instead of a f@g.
Well the styling for the Maverick makes it look like a truck while the Santa Cruz looks more like the product of a soccer mom van who had a few too many White Claws one night and decided to have a one night stand with the mullet wearing El Camino she just met at the bar.
