This is about a week before they stopped shrieking and started living on their own, so not really babies anymore. Here’s one of their parents, a shitty 1.6MP photo from a 15-year-old camcorder. I don’t have the storage to process the (720p) videos right now.
I feel sorry for disturbing it, it clearly needed a rest from 3 weeks of care. And this was a small tree, just some 6 m above me, any recent DSLR with a telephoto/zoom lens could have made a picture as good as the one in the post. The younglings were higher up though (some 15 m diagonal line-of-sight), you can tell they’re in a dense linden as opposed to a bare branch of a walnut tree… And they wanted to take a look at me, bobbing and circling their heads… Unfortunately the real action is at dusk, the only video I have of them eating and flying is a blurry, grainy silhouette…
Very nice! They are one of my favorites, but they are very rare around me anymore. I have never seen a live one in person yet.
My prop Long Ear was a huge hit with the kids at the open house event. They liked it because it reminded them of a bunny.
My neighbor has a phone with a periscope telephoto lens, this is the best picture.
Such perfect babies 🥰

That still looks pretty good to me. So exciting you got to see and hear them grow up.
