The knee-jerk response from most Democrats seems to boil down to: “Our guy sucks less than their guy!”

And it never crosses their mind that maybe I want someone who makes an effort not to suck at all.

Yeah, I’m not going to side with someone who thinks genocide is “good”. You’re as bad as any maga fascist

I said I voted against fascism not for genocide, but I guess that didn’t fit your narrative. Sorry we can’t all live in your special imaginary land where everything can be perfect if we just close our eyes and wish away democrats. Wake up and take the brain out of your box and put it in your head. Dems do a lot more good than maga and protesting and other means can ve used to voice against genocide while getting involved grass roots for more progressive candidates, but there’s nothing wrong with voting against a republican party that has consistently voted for worse policies.

Believe me, I try to buy into that.

Problem is it doesn’t apply to the two-party system except in the case of the Sanders, Platners, and Mamdanis of the world. Our only real power politically is local now.

Jill Stein sucks. Randos popping out of the woodwork for the general election are nothing but spoilers.

I say that, so that I can say that viable candidates look like Mamdani: they start as community organizers, win local offices, and then win bigger offices. Local political power is not only materially important, it also serves as a demonstration of political ability, and creates enough awareness and approval to succeed in higher races.

The more Mamdanis we make, and the fewer Steins we tolerate, the sooner we can achieve local power with the potential to become regional power, and state power, and national power. We’re not gonna have a supply of good candidates until we build them up locally.

Unfortunately that means several more years of lesser evil in most big races, but if we fill those years with local victories we can minimize how long it will take until we have good choices. Find the good people running for city council and help them any way you can. If there are no good choices for local elections, consider running yourself. It’s scary, but narcissists and sociopaths are drawn to positions of power. If no one decent goes out of their comfort zone to take responsibility, then it’ll just be narcissists and sociopaths.

“Opposition to the Democratic party cannot be tolerated!”

Unfortunately that means several more years of lesser evil in most big races

You say, after decades of failed lesser evilism.

That second point is the important one.

I’m not sure how much Dems have to lower the bar before people see past lesser evilism for what it is.

For the BlueMAGA faithful, “doing a Holocaust” isn’t low enough for them, so I doubt there’s anything the Democrats could do that would
