One would hope, but like, i’ve helped with a few of those slideshows about being good citizens in foreign countries (a full bird being assigned to Clark asked me what insight i might have as a civvie i am so sorry for making the powerpoints worse) and there are I’d say a good third to two-thirds of the military folk going overseas that aren’t total shitasses at any given time. Right now? My own biases say closer to a third, but I really don’t know. A good fair number of them are just average kids who didn’t have any good options after high school, foolishly took the recruiters at their word (or talked to their peers and families and they didn’t have a better option) and seriously hoped they wouldn’t have to kill anyone. The smartest of the bunch all went into the Coast Guard though, those folk actually save lives.
Bet Okinawa and other places near forward operating bases are all unfavorable.
