I’ve been seeing a lot of casual hate against fat people over the internet. Most of them justify their hate with “They have no excuse for being fat”, " It will motivate them to lose weight ".

They make it sound like it’s absolutely ok and the hate is a natural response to seeing an overweight person. I even saw a kid sharing his love for books in a video and one of the commentors was like, " Books are good, but exercise is better" and when he got backlash he was like “oh, he’s gotta lose weight”, “no hate, I’m just trying to be helpful” But is it right to do it under a post where he’s sharing his hobby?

I know fat is unhealthy and that the person is better off without it. But is how healthy a person lives anyone’s business except their own? I mean, it’s not contagious?

Besides, people could have their own reasons to be fat. Maybe they don’t have time to work out, maybe they have some physical problems that don’t allow them to work out or maybe that’s just the way they want to live. How do you decide they absolutely have access to a gym or have the time to work out based on a single pic or a short video?

Overweight people have become a kind of target for people who are bullies but don’t want to be called out.

The argument for treatment goes both ways. If hospitals pickup the cost for uninsured and underinsured patients everyone pays for it with higher costs.

Conversely, if there are any savings to be had, the cost is still high for everyone and the savings typically go to the insurance company.

Okay so either the government, private insurance or the individual will pay. If more people are unhealthy than more has to be paid. Saying being fat is good actually because it means you get more out of private insurance is stupid af because it only applies to people with private insurance and private insurance companies price that shit in with premiums anyways.

Being fat is obviously not good. All I’m saying is you’re screwed one way and screwed the other way. It’s a bit pessimistic or sarcastic take on the matter.

Even if someone has private insurance and they’re overweight it’s still screws everyone else because the insurance companies raise the rates. That leads less cost for the medical system the hospital the government what have you the insurance company still make more money because they overcharge the shit out of everybody anyway.
