Cuba today proposed an additional debate in the UN assembly on the necessity of ending the U.S. blockade on Cuba.
9 members voted to block the debate from taking place: Argentina, Costa Rica, Czechia, Israel, Morocco, North Macedonia, Paraguay, Ukraine and United States

Ukraine is a hostage because they can’t live without US support.
Cuba is a hostage because it can’t live without outside (Russia, China, or others) assistance with the embargo in place.
It’s a big dog’s world.
Ukraine used to receive a lot of US aid. There hasn’t been any since Trump took office again.

There is a difference in one only voted on a resolution in the UN, the other has sent soldiers to kill Ukrainians (and voted against Russian withdrawl from Ukraine in the UN)
Ukraine has never sent soldiers to kill Cubans.
If it was like-for-like - just UN votes - then I’d agree, but Cuba sends people to kill Ukrainians.
That is from the US Department of State.
Judge the Cubans if you must, but most are likely enlisted by russian recruiters under false pretenses, or because getting shot tomorrow in someone else’s war is still better than dying of starvation today.
You cannot cry about how people killed in war is a red line and in the same sentence hand wave away un votes as unimportant. How many lives did the sanctions on Cuba take or at least meaningfully destroy?
