2 of the 3 Dem replacements for Platner (66%) are of jewish faith, and are centrists. Troy Jackson is a catholic progressive.

Thats a heavy Jewish engagement when Jewish people are only about 1% of Maine voters. Across the US Jewish people are 2% of voters. Jewish Mainers can be proud to be so thoroughly represented in their views, and “flooding the zone” with candidates with their understanding of society. Whats up with Christians? They are not turning out in election candidate numbers like Jewish people are, across all political races.

I’ve got high hopes for Troy Jackson-- Maine voters sure could use the economic help and social justice that progressives would bring, not the rubber stamping, free spending for foreign wars, free speech suppression, and stock market/rich voter focus that Dem centrists consistently work on and show no signs of pivotting away from.

The presidential race will be interesting, 11 jewish contenders so far on the Dem side https://www.theprogressiveprofessor.com/2026/02/12/an-all-time-high-number-of-potential-jewish-democratic-presidential-contenders-in-2028/

This will be another couple of years where election chatter talks about ‘clashes of civilizations’.
