I mean just look at the high gas prices (which are still dirt cheap compared to germany) and people don’t realize it is Trumps doing. Or how he slashes Medicaid. Things that are really perceivable in your everyday live and not abstract politics.

So yeah, totally believable that a lot of those people fall for this kinda news.
