Most responsible business owners understand the cost of hiring new employees, so they want to keep productive employees for as long as possible. And if middle managers are mistreating employees, a good business owner will do something about it.

Not to say that all business owners are good. Having worked for good and bad people, I can say that leaving a business with bad ownership is always a good thing in the long run, even if it hurts in the short term.
