My wife fell in love with the Tropical Heat smash burger at Sonic. This was my attempt to do it at home. It is, surprisingly, cheaper to make at home. I need to work on the pineapple jalapeno glaze a bit but it’s a very solid burger.
Cost per person: $5.25 using 73/27 ground beef.
That looks to be thick for a “smash” burger.
I personally do not care for the smash burger trend. Don’t get me wrong, they have a place and time, but every burger does not need to be a smash burger.
My favorite burger of all time was a no-name Mom & Pop 1/2 lb mushroom swiss. Seriously, it was in the middle of nowhere, and I didn’t expect that super thick, deliciously juicy, awesome beefy goodness. Thick, drippy, and so very beefy. You’ll never get that from a smash burger.
