Hypothetically reddit could operate an instance, and we could all give them the finger and block/defederate from them. We have to foster the growth of niche hobby, community, and activity boards though. It can’t all be left leaning politics and meme shit posting. We need to encourage those who share expertise to come contribute. That lemmy is the defacto aggregate forum. It is the only form factor corporate ownership can’t swallow up.
