    I decided to buy as I don’t need to move around much, and I vastly prefer fixing stuff myself rather than paying for someone to do it for me. (When other people fix shit, it’s either expensive or sub-par)

      It’s usually both, and it usually takes more of your time to arrange things than to fix it.

      I’m similar, my only rule is I don’t work on gas or complicated electricity. Too risky, bring in a pro.

        I’ll work on complicated 12V no problem, but prefer leaving even fairly simple 240V to pros.

          I’m less worried about being electrocuted and more worried about creating a fire hazard

            If my car burns down, it burns down. I’ll buy a similarly priced beater.

            If I get electrocuted with 240, I could die though. Plus if my house burns down it’s gonna be a bit of a bigger deal than the car
