I don’t feel non-drugged until well after 6 PM. I’m sleeping very well. I even tried caffeine pills and even caffeine doesn’t budge the “just come to under general anesthesia” feeling. I’ve been under before, and that retch-y feeling is the same. People have also noticed that I’m moving slowly. I don’t drink alcohol, so this isn’t a hangover. It started rather gradually but is getting worse.

Someone suggested it could be low b12, but I’ve been having the sublingual spray for months and there’s no improvement.

Am I just getting old and this is something I’m gonna have to put up with for the rest of my life?

I’ve had blood work done, my urea and white blood cells have consistently been low since at least September last year (I kept having them repeated by my doctor) but I thought that just might be to do with me getting older since your immune system decreases with age, and my doctor didn’t bring it up. TSH, iron etc was normal.

They didn’t do any followup? Low white blood cells for that long can indicate some stuff that should at least be checked for. Your doctor should also know if those numbers are normal for your age. Did they make any suggestions? 32 is genuinely still young.

They kept repeating them since September last year every 4-5 weeks. They told me it’s normal, I asked for the papers to be printed recently, got them all printed out, and when I checked, each time I had my white cells etc tested, they are low.

By the way, I think my initial reply reads dismissive, but my intention was to try and make clear that whatever is happening isn’t normal aging. Can you see a second doctor? Fatigue is such a vague symptom, with so many possible reasons, but what you’re describing could indicate a lot of things and you need a doctor who will take it seriously.

My friend was able to do a mini sleep study from home recently, to test for sleep apnea. I noticed when we were traveling together that he sometimes gasped in his sleep, and he told his doctor about it. I think there are DIY sleep monitoring apps but I don’t know if they’re any good. Might be worth looking into, if your doctor isn’t helping. Or find someone to listen to you sleep.

The range of possibilities with bad fatigue is just so big. I can only make suggestions based on my own life experience, but a doctor in your corner would be able to look for so many more things.

Oh, did you have a bad illness at some point before the fatigue? Covid isn’t the only virus that can have confusing long term after effects.

A relative with fibromyalgia had constant farigue, but I think pain is a factor with that one.

I can keep thinking of possibilities, unfortunately.

i would probably see a 2nd opinion, if it appeared suddenly 2 years ago, there is a cause. b12 does nothing unless you deficient, usually vegans that supplement b12 gets it. or if you have absorption disorder like celiacs, which prevents intrinsic factor, small intestine from abosrbing. currently thinking about seeing a 2nd derm and pcp, because they are quite how should i say it, not very keen on atopic dermatitis, if they dont see a rash/severe symptoms they will not do anything further.

Seconding everyone else saying you should get a second opinion. Something is clearly wrong and if your doctor isn’t looking closer to figure out what the issue is or trying to find solutions then you absolutely deserve a second opinion from a doctor who cares

Your test results, plus fatigue, without an accompanying protein, vitamin, or nutrient deficiency, seems to indicate an infection of some kind, possibly in the liver or kidneys. Some environmental factor is also possible.

Your combination of test results and symptoms seems a cause for concern. I would consider asking your Dr. about it, possibly getting a second opinion.

32 isn’t old I mean if you had said 60 then I would have told you you got a problem but age isn’t it!

      Go to the doctor!

Are you allergic? Food allergies are a beast and as little as a 0.001 gram can trigger it, making you feel like shit for days.

      Now, go to the doctor!

I’m just trying to help, so please don’t take this the wrong way, but what are you eating and drinking? It could be “healthy” stuff or it could be crap making you feel this way. My best advice is to try and figure it out now, because it won’t get easier. Food sensitivities seem to be brushed off because they’re not bad enough to kill you, but the damage can add up over time.

      • Start with removing the crap
      • See a good nutritionist or study up from the Mayo clinic or Cleveland Hospital sites, they have a lot of good info.
      • Drink a lot of water no matter what you do
      • Watch your caffeine intake, you have to be consistent if you’re going to have it.
      • Since your muddy headed, it might help to go on nature walks. It doesn’t have to be a long time, just try to get outside.
