I wouldn’t have minded all the changes if they had added it to the game as an “Arrange” or “Remix” mode, like how Resident Evil had them in the Deadly Silence remake for Nintendo DS. One mode which recreates the original very faithfully and accurately, and a second, new mode which changes it up.
Instead, they want to put forth the idea that the new one is “better” than the original, which is categorically false in every way (except graphics fidelity which is different from art style, nearly any new game will always win graphics fidelity over an old game except Minecraft). They effectively replace the original in search results online by using the same name, and no longer offer the original for sale outside of the horrendous HD collection.
What they did to the character models is awful. Look how they murdered my boy Eddie.
Argh them overriding SH2 with this crap is so frustrating. They didn’t need to do much. SH2 is already on PC, just do some small improvements for the modern day (ultrawide support, keybind remapping etc) and release it on Steam. But no. Can’t have nice things. You gotta have the ultra realism mode with 4k pbr textures for a soda can you can see for 2 seconds. You can’t call yourself a modern game if it’s not 100GB at least.
