Who says owl awareness is only for one day? Visit the McLane Center on Wednesday, August 5 11am-3pm to learn about owls and meet our ambassador Barred Owl.

    Poor thing has been through a lot. They have such a cool area for her though! I will have to try to learn more about this!

    Our female Barred Owl animal ambassador’s enclosure with high-contrast visual markers. These posters with unique shapes and color contrasts that she is more likely to see, paired with food rewards, train her to have a better understanding of the landmarks in her environment since she has visual impairments.

    I do my post prep at night so I always find out about these specially designated days after the fact. 😅

      I almost overlooked it too. But for some areas of the world it was still August 4, so I decided to look for something to share.

      And there’s still an opportunity to visit her today! 😃

        I was going to say, I should go pay my local owls a visit after work, but it looks like we’ve got storms rolling through. Boo.
