    Yeah it really sucks. She should have gone for the permanent residence any point in the last 18 years but it wasn’t necessary until Brexit happened.

    Definitely not proper how Sweden handled it, they should have sent at least a couple of letters and emails notifying them of their right to stay not being permanent anymore. Parliament could have passed law saying “person that has been legally residing in Sweden using their freedom of movement for at least before Brexit gets automatically permanent residency” and this wouldn’t have been a thing.
