I’m going to get some hate for this, but: nothing

I live in a civilised country, where the cost of things isn’t crazy relative to income with the notable exception of housing

I’m lucky enough to own my own home, and I did horrible hours of damned hard work to get where I am

I buy seasonal food where I can (because of environmental reasons rather than just the price), I don’t buy junk food or takeaways apart from very rare occasions

I don’t smoke and I buy beer from local brewers and enjoy a wine club that is within my means

If I want something, I buy it, but I’m not frivolous with money

My TV is too old to connect to the internet, I don’t have fancy clothes, the last console I bought was a PS2, I have no Netflix or any such subscriptions

I see people struggling, but I also see a lot of money spent on what I consider to be bullshit

And while I’m older, I’m not a boomer before anyone suggests otherwise

I was nodding along with you until this line here.

Not everyone is as lucky as we are to be in a position where we aren’t struggling as much right now. It’s not entirely their fault for struggling either. What you find worthy of spending money on, others will find wasteful.

        Cool

Food delivery (with the exception of actual groceries, which I still can’t understand people not going to the shop to get themselves), streaming subscriptions, and so much other shit is an absolute waste of money

        And it’s usually 'Murican laziness

Yeah, your country is shit, but part of the mindset is wanting convenience (ie. Laziness) and the cost of paying for it, or the poor exploited fuckers on the other side of it be damned

’ Murica is a fucking shit hole because 'Muricans made it thus, and now they have the gall to whine

I like the part where nobody mentioned the USA until you did 😂

As an American, it seems to me that you appear to have the economic beliefs of a middle class conservative American (“these people’s lives suck because they are lazy! How dare they complain?”). Maybe it’s time to self-reflect.

EDIT: Doubled down in the replies lmao. Yes, pity is a common conservative emotion.

            Oh, no…

            I pity 'Muricans

But I also unfortunately see the greed and selfishness baked into the society

The laziness is born from acceptance, because from birth, yanks are indoctrinated and few ever get the opportunity to see that the rest of the world is better

That we value more than money

That you have fewer freedoms than almost anywhere, and that the ability for someone with a single-digit IQ to own a firearm is a bad thing

You’d fit in with MAGA. They say the exact same thing about America and Americans and they’ve turned it into a worse shit hole. May as well go on Fox News and get in the comment section. You’ll fit right on in.

Pretending that there’s no greed or selfishness in your country is wild.

Again - there are over 350 MILLION people in the US. You only make yourself look ridiculous to paint every one of us as never seeing the rest of the world or never budgeting or never suffering from anything than our own personal choices.

              Wild.

I don’t care what you think

Like I said, I spend a lot of time in the US

I have many friends from there who got out

I know that some of you travel further than a drunken trip to Tijuana

You seem to be missing my point, either deliberately, or as a result of your “education” system

Either way, you cannot possibly understand how little your opinion matters to me

You’re merely one of 350 million, as you’re so keen to point out

I love it when people who visit try to preach to an American the truth about America.

Shitting on poor people sure is something you can do.

God forbid the focus be where the actual corruption is and not scrutinizing a family’s choice to get grocery delivery after working 80+ hours a week.

Good job actually focusing on the real issues, oh enlightened one.

I don’t know how many different ways I can say that I have pity for you lot,

Once again, I refer to the things that you appear to have missed, where I specifically excluded grocery delivery

This is why I can’t take you seriously. You are either ignoring things that I’m trying to go out of my way to communicate, or you’re too thick to understand

                    I’m not your enemy

But, once again, I don’t value your opinion, and I am quite happy to admit that it’s because you’re American

You’d have to surprise the shit out of me with something clever for me to take you seriously, and let’s face it

That’s not going to happen here

            I know

I have to spend quite a lot of time in 'Murica

Don’t get me wrong. While I despise your society, I pity the individuals

But unfortunately there are too many of you who are perfectly happy to see others fucked over for their personal convenience

Selfishness and greed are celebrated parts of what passes for culture there

You’re shitting on the individuals though.

You’re not intrinsically better because you’re from Europe or wherever the fuck.

People are struggling. It does nothing to punch down right now.

Your individuals allowed this to happen.

Not as individuals, not you personally, but your society

I’m not from Europe, but I find it interesting that yanks get defensive and immediately make that assumption

But, if you use Amazon, uber eats, door dash or any of that shit, then you’re a part of exploiting others so that you can live an easier life

And I will judge you for that and find you wanting

And no, I don’t use that shit. I’m not interested in exploiting the whole vulnerable to line th and pockets of the rich for things that aren’t difficult for me to do myself

I didn’t say shit about using Amazon and Uber Eats.

I called you out for being judgmental and punching down on people poorer than you.
