I find gold tacky no matter what, but slapping it everywhere is so weird. It’s like someone playing the sims and they need to up the resell value of their home as quick as possible.
Even worse, they want to be constantly reminded of the value of their surroundings to updoot their own ego. They outsource their self-esteem to material world around them, to other people’s remarks, and never feel themselves complete in solitude. Their cheapo-looking overpriced golden toilets, cruxifictions and eagles are show pieces of how they are fragile, limited and sad.
It’s a symptom of someone obsessed with wealth but with no actual taste. That’s always been trumps thing. Money or the illusion of money. He has more money than you, just look everything is gold, you don’t have gold stuff unless you have money, right? It definitely is the “style” of someone who never left the 80’s.
Reminds me of those I’ve seen who are dead broke but they still try to make themselves look rich by wearing a pound of gold jewelry that came from their relatives.
All that gold shit in the background genuinely looks tacky. And the eagle reminds me of Nazi shit

My housemate actually painted a table here with white and gold. It looks good. But, that’s the only gold thing in the house, and my house is garbage
Also, I think the table was recovered from actual garbage and restored.
