The calavera brothers are more about downtuned guitars and grooves, and by having my favourite Sepultura albums’ musical centerpieces being Brazilian Tribal music and a potpourri of modern and progressive metal styles, I feel like I miss the point of the musical expression purpose of the band.
I reckon it’s akin to any band that shifts their style for a given reason. Metallica is an okay example. After AJFA, they changed. A lot tbh. But even AJFA was a big shift from their first three. So it makes sense that someone deep into thrash and what thrash is about would be less into the band’s later stuff. And I don’t think that’s missing a point. It’s just being into something specific rather than excluding something else.

yep. Just being upfront about my own biases and being in the “wrong”.
