It’s kinda annoying opening the community and seeing posts made only by a single person bot that posts so much that actually genuine content get suffucated, i think we all know who i talk about (if not, it’s Sanitation), they don’t even link the original post (which i know it’s not obbligatory but cmon…!)
I can block them though so it’s only mildly infuriating, though, it makes genuine posters have less comments (and so discussion)
Please, if you are a mod and read this, i ask to take action and if you are not a mod, please feel free to discuss about that with me and everyone else
I’ve blocked maybe a dozen accounts that probably aren’t even active anymore.
Is everybody else just raw dogging ALL instead of making a subscription list?
If my home feed runs out of new and interesting stuff i open all, think a lot of people do that. Have to say I’m not desperate enough to sort all by new or hot.
To a degree, yes, how do you build that list otherwise? Most “communities” are duds with no activity. And poor support for aggregating even identically named communities across instances means all of this is a real chore. And how do you even find the relevant ones anyway? I keep whining about discoverability on here but that’s just because it sucks
I definitely agree with you there. Finding the communities is not easy.
I think when I first started I went through a 411 list and just started adding things that sounds interesting. Many of them still haven’t had any content since I joined, but if they ever do, I’ll catch it.
I also follow /new communities, and every now and then I’ll join a fresh one if it sounds fun. Again, they may not go anywhere, but I’ll know if they do.
Otherwise, I search for things when they randomly pop in my head, or if someone else on here mentions one in particular. Or if I’m bored, I’ll switch to all and see if anything catches my eye.
