The flood in #Nepal was a wall of water, ice and debris traveling 40mph down a mountain. The fastest run by a human was Usain Bolt at ~27mph. It was impossible for anyone to outrun that.

    I think the Usain Bolt comparison does little here. I mean most people don’t try to out run a stream of water running perpendicularly to it. And most people have knowledge of things moving at 40 mph (65kph), like cars or a particularly aggravated wildebeest.

      And yet a lot of the videos show people trying to outrun the stream of water because there was nowhere to run to. Sure there were people running into the surrounding hills, but a lot of people were also corralled in, like the video of the border crossing, because of the topography of the area. So some would have had to run from it for some distance before reaching a perpendicular path of escape. It was pretty much, if they saw the wave, and they were in its direct path with no escape, then they were already dead.
