I’m in Pennsylvania, USA. They’re Strobilomyces strobilaceous, an edible black bolete known as old-man-of-the-woods.
those shits are why people don’t pick mushrooms: “oh yeah this thing that looks like death incarnate? perfectly edible. Noononononono don’t touch the one that looks like a champignon it’ll erase you from the fabric of the universe!”
