I may be wrong, but I think it is that end times represent God saying “ok, everyone gets to skip ahead to heaven or hell and no more earthly living”. All the good Christians get to a nice afterlife and everyone they don’t like get sent to hell to suffer and they don’t have to be around them anymore.
They can’t suicide their way to heaven, so if they are impatient then the end times are the only way they can work towards getting in early
Former evangelical here, it’s actually not skipping ahead. Once the rapture happens all the faithful will ascend to heaven and the rest get to live on earth while the battle of good vs evil takes place basically.
How funny would it be for them to die in the climate apocalypse, meet their god at the pearly gates, only to be told “Technically you brought this about yourself, so it’s suicide. Straight to hell with you.”

It’s psychotic either way.
Odd how they seem certain suicide will keep them out of heaven, but actively trying to bring about the apocalypse guarantees a VIP pass.
