          They can be made without, and may be a perfectly cromulent option for shelf stable powder goods. The top and bottom are simply crimped rigid cardboard.

      And to be able to slice it right open into a large stand mixer. It’s not packaged for the home cook who uses a little, it’s done for the commercial bakers and chefs who use a lot.

            yeah, when I was a kid it was 100% normal that all my friends’ moms had a flour tub, and it was big enough to fit a full bag of flour. These days with baking being a hobby of people with enough time to bake, I don’t think they’re as common.
