Functionality is veryhardware dependent. I have no idea how up-to-date that wiki is, so be aware functionality for any given hardware may be better than it shows (ex. Fairphone 6).
TheMightyCat is apparently the first to solve the call issue for Linux phones, so I expect that solution to at least partially diffuse to other hardware and other Linux mobile operating systems in a relatively short time (months->year).
I am not very knowledgeable in this, but my understanding is that since postmarketOS is a mainline Linux kernel, it can utilize any Linux programs/apps. For android apps, Waydroid seems to be a working thing. I think @[email protected] can probably answer the question better than me (assuming this is how you ping someone).
If the question is about apps then yes postmarketos can run any linux executable compiled for arm. When you run it with a DE like plasma mobile you can run any normal wayland program like on desktop, but keep in mind the program must be display responsive otherwise it will be very hard to work with.
I don’t know about a lemmy app but yes there are mail, browsers and YouTube apps that also scale properly to the mobile form factor.
Personally I wouldn’t recommend waydroid unless you absolutely need it, for most things there is a native linux app.
To add, Voyager is now available on Linux. I’m not sure about other clients, but it wouldn’t surprise me if at least a couple others had Linux versions as well.
Wow really? That would be a huge step up. I’ll have another look in that case. I tried it on a pixel before and it did not go well…
