(Please avoid sub-micro-genres)

Maybe someone in the comments can help us change our minds…for me i’ts Raggaeton Reggaeton, I tried, I searched thru the early years but nothing, dumb genre in my opinion.

    I don’t think there are any inherently bad genres of music. There is only bad execution of a genre.

    Take modern country, for example. A lot of it is absolutely terrible, but even within the genre there are great artists and great songs. Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton are obvious examples. Every genre has its own defining sound, and every genre has performers who demonstrate just how good that sound can be when it’s done properly.

    That being said… there are definitely genres and styles of music that I have very little patience for.

    Anything labeled “easy listening.” Elevator music. Modern commercial pop. And, especially, mumble rap.

    A lot of it sounds like lazy, formulaic music that has been meticulously overproduced to be as commercially marketable as possible. It feels less like someone had something they wanted to say and more like a committee designed a product that would generate streams.

    And that’s ultimately my problem. I don’t dislike a genre simply because it isn’t my taste. I dislike music that feels like it was made with absolutely no artistic ambition behind it.
