In 2009, Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks company paid the estate for film rights to King’s words, along with his life rights, which allow a person or company to make content based on an individual’s story. DreamWorks has yet to produce or direct Spielberg’s planned King biopic, but the rights have caused complications for numerous filmmakers. (Neither Spielberg’s literary agent nor King’s estate returned Broadly’s request for comment.)
Nobody was ever going to learn about MLK or Civil Rights in a movie by Spielberg or anyone else.
If you want to move past “content of their character” and “I have a dream”, your going to have to pick up a book.

I learned a lot when visiting the Museums in DC. Wife and I spent time in each and in most of them there was stuff about King and civil rights. Including bits of video or or incredible long passages of text talking about how he was a socialist and his dismay of capitalism.
Growing up I’ve read books, but never once learned about the socialism.
I’m sure Trump is trying to get all those removed.
Even less from a Hollywood movie.
