There’s a mama squirrel with a new baby living near my house, and when I let my dog out this morning, he chased mom up a tree and the baby got left behind. Brought the dog in and spotted the baby like this.
The baby didn’t know what to do and hadn’t moved from there for a couple minutes, so I pulled the shovel handle out and it ran up my arm and leapt off my shoulder towards mom.

Make sure it’s properly sealed before spring! Some people accidentally end up sealing the parents out and don’t know babies are left behind. They’ll want to get in if you’re accidentally offering something nicer than what is outside.
It was an issue that has already been dealt with, thank goodness. We had “guests” for a little while, likely the same culprit!
