Saw this little guy at the clinic today.
Flying squirrels are the living embodiment of chaos…but they sure are cute. This is the best look I ever got of one. They are usually asleep when I’m there, which makes opening their cages much easier, but this one came out to see me. Its card said it was named Noodles.
They are odd shaped little things. they remind me of a large mouse as.much as they do a small squirrel, with that very mousey face. The tail is a very interesting shape. It reminds me of a feather. The feet and its nose are sooo tiny!

I never knew we had them here in Pennsylvania either until I started volunteering. I keep trying to get some to release in my yard.
This is my second year working with wildlife, and despite that we usually have some through most of the year, even with them indoors, this is the first I ever saw one that wasn’t an escapee that was more a blur than something I could actually see! Even this guy, in the cage, it’d be like he could teleport about a foot in any direction.
One of my first memories of working the clinic is 3 of these guys escaping because they fit through the grate of the carrier they got out in and people are trying to grab them while others are launching themselves off people’s backs and soaring through the air.
