I switched over to Linux Mint a few days ago. While the game doesn’t work ‘out of the box’, it doesn’t take too much to get working. And boy does it work - it’s loading up quicker than on Windows and seems to be more responsive while on a map too.
I only had one CTD, which was while testing one of the newer mods but I wasn’t able to recreate it afterwards. I’ll call that a significant win.

I literally had my stop watch out to check. Windows could take minutes, Linux had the game loaded in 20 seconds. I tried a small blank test map and it loaded so quickly I barely saw the loading screen. It was insane.
It sometimes felt like Windows was so full of bloat that it struggled to manage simple tasks, let a lone complex ones. Linux with pretty much any task just feels rapid in comparison.
Nice.
Totally agree. It was so refreshing changing over to a PC where autoloading programs were not the norm and where programs actually feel like what they’re doing is what your PC is occupied with rather than running dozens of unwanted, and sometimes even harmful, background tasks.
Windows I/O and CPU schedulers are kinda shit. Or rather, general things and not adapting works of art like Linux’.
