The amount of people that turn off their brain and completely cave to a voice of authority, regardless of the consequences, is disturbingly high… as the Milgram Experiment shows.
Nowadays that experiment has been shown to be on some pretty shaky ground, TLDR is that not all the subjects actually believed the shocks were real and even among those who did the compliance rate was not as high as advertised. Iirc the actual rate of people willing to administer the lethal shock was something like 1/4… which is still pretty high but not damning evidence about the human spirit as a whole.

As soon as I got my car, I turned off the voice in google maps, I like having the directions, but I hate having a voice telling me what to do
