it’s always been open world. the “campaign” is just the tutorial. the space age expansion adds five new planets and an entire space game mode, basically sextupling the amount of time you can sink into it.

Edit: if you mean “what do i do now?” then the answer in the base game is, yes, launch a rocket. but to get there you need to know how to scale. i’ve done a rocket run in eight hours, but my first one took over 40. just building ote of every component and waiting will take years, so you need to scale up and out in order to succeed.
What an i missing with factorio? I played the starter, now it’s just open world? Launch a rocket?
