Said western Europe. So probably proper bike lanes. I live in western Europe, Spain specifically. There’s the road, then a steel railing, then the river-like trench along the road, and then the bike lane.
The bike lane is completely empty, there’s 3-4 “cyclists” in Lycra using the road.
Because real cyclists use the road and wear lycra. The bike lane is for the noobs.
Actual cyclists that use the bike lane to move from one town to the other do use the bike lane and don’t use Lycra though. They’re probably the butt of the joke for the lycra dudes, because they didn’t even pay 10k€ for there bikes, most probably it was just 300€ for the bike lane-capable bike.
