We probably should build statues of selfless people, but I wouldn’t put myself in that group. I know I have definitely been selfish at some points in life. Properly selfless people are those who give lots to charity, or volunteer for charity, and so on.
When it comes to wanting good things for your kids, surely that is very common. Many parents expend a lot of energy to try to provide the best lives for their kids, although you do sometimes come across parents who put themselves ahead of their kids.

Yeah sometimes statues get built of people who aren’t too great. Like George Washington, who owned slaves. I guess statues are usually commissioned and paid for by wealthy and powerful people who are trying to propagandise their viewpoints, because if ordinary people believe the propaganda of the powerful, then the powerful get to stay in power.
