Neoliberal isn’t made up. It was explicitly created by people like Milton Friedman, and came to prominence as a dominant political theory with Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, which then took over the center-left and center-right to become dominant across the global north.
I’d say the first is more an example of Capitalism in general, of which Neo-Liberalism is a form, so I’d say that’s not inacurate.
I personally don’t think they have any real fear of any of the current USA politicians. I belive that anyone who’s gained any sort of political power in this country has been approved by the powers that be. Oh, also: yeah; Newsom is a Neo-Liberal.
I don’t think you really understand what “woke” is. Being woke is about critical analysis of traditional, established power hierarchies. Hierarchies like white supremacy, patriarchy or class. Maybe some neoliberals, to their credit, want to abolish traditional racial and gender hierarchies, and that’s good, but they certainly do not want to abolish the hierarchy of rich over poor, or capital over labor.
Neoliberalism isn’t everything I don’t like, but it is a big one.
