Of course it’s a nothing burger! It’s utterly vapid. It’s a Twitter post. Someone took a Twitter post, probably made by a 19-year-old who did think this was profound because they’re 19, then they slapped an engagement bait title on it and posted it to Lemmy. It’s the definition of vapid.
That’s what this whole thing was about. You thought they were saying nothing new of that scale had been made since Star Wars, since you still are with that 1976 thing. They weren’t. They were saying something that required no brain activity.
To put it very simply. The post said something new will be made tomorrow. You said that’s wrong because something new was made yesterday. I said that’s why someone downvoted you. This is what we’ve spent brain power on. Cuz we’re both apparently as stupid as the person who made the original post. I’m done.
They literally say there will be an IP that will have come out since 1976 (“and not based on 50+ year old intellectual property”). That is any IP that has or will come out since then. Such as the 90s, not exclusively one that hasn’t been thought of yet. Goddamn. And to think some people might want to discuss what might fit that criteria. But others chime in, arguing that they have issues with reading comprehension. “Ackchyually, they haven’t been thought of yet”. Cool dude.
