    Finally - and perhaps most importantly for Mexican gaming enthusiasts - the pair are pushing for additional accountability for companies that sell digital goods in Mexico. At the moment, many of these companies do not have consumer-facing support in Mexico, and this proposition aims to change that by forcing businesses to have a Mexican business address so authorities can intervene if consumer rights issues occur.

    This feels like it could be an easily abusable problem and not a real solution. Who exactly would this apply to, publishers or game developers? What about Indie developers that self-publish?

      I think the intention is for stores/distributors like Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Valve, etc.

      The EU has something like this. If you sell software inside the EU, you must either be there, or have a trusted entity responsible for supporting the software within the EU.

      It’s a nice way of cutting down on selling snake oil software across borders, with no avenue of repercussions. That said, as with a lot of regulation it can cause problems for smaller devs.
