Oh trust me I’m aware of who Simon is and I feel disgusting debating all this because I understand the real meaning behind it.
I’m just trying to say the messaging isn’t reaching or impacting the men you’re trying to call out. All it’s doing is causing boys who did nothing to fall down the alt-right pipeline that leads to becoming the men you’re trying to call out
Because I’m smart enough to realize that the type of man who’s willing to rape someone isn’t gonna be deterred by any of this. He’s gonna do it regardless.
The man who beats his wife isn’t gonna see a billboard that says “beating women is wrong” and suddenly go “my god, I should really stop beating my wife”
Because I’m smart enough to realize that the type of man who’s willing to rape someone isn’t gonna be deterred by any of this. He’s gonna do it regardless.
So we just give up and say it’s in the nature of man to rape? We can’t fix this?
I have much higher views of men and their ability to empathize and be kind.
Like I’ve previously said, I don’t have a solution. I wish I did because holy shit this is all fucked.
I wish I had a higher view of men, hell of humans in general. But I’ve studied history and it’s been fucked from the beginning. Hence me being a misanthrope.
If you’re a misanthrope and don’t have a solution then move the fuck out of the way. You have little to contribute here. I suspect that despite what I just said, you’re still going to respond to this.

That’s not who this is directed at. Rapists aren’t using #notallmen. It’s pointed at the dudes who feel the need to chime in “well, i’m not a rapist” when women talk about the things they’ve experienced. Those dudes aren’t helping. Simply not being a rapist isn’t enough. It’s about shutting down/educating dudes who have toxic attitudes towards women and to stop perpetuating the things that make stuff like what happened at Cornell so common.
The man who beats his wife isn’t gonna see a billboard
Okay, I have one more thing to say to anyone who happens to wander down here, I guess: This is very funny because the campaign he’s referring to did reduce domestic violence cases. So without having to explain why, we already know that he’s wrong.
I am so sick of pretending that we ought to take activism advice from people who are doing nothing with their lives. Do you think this guy has ever purchased a billboard? What the fuck would he know?

How do you know unless you are one of those men?

No, it’s not. Please stop talking out of your ass.
