minus-square@MataVatniklinkEnglish1•1 year agoI was in camping in Florida three days ago and I swear I heard one of this birds. I heard a loud monkey noise relatively close to me. I know they aren’t native to the area but what else sounds like a monkey like that.
minus-squareAdaOPlinkfedilinkEnglish2•1 year agoI’ve never heard a kookaburra described as sounding like a monkey before, but now that you say it, yeah, I can see it… Maybe you have birds that have escaped captivity in your area?
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish3•1 year agoEvery time at the zoo I have the thought “what the hell kind of monkey is that!?” Every time, kookaburra.
minus-square@spamfajitaslinkEnglish2•1 year agoFun fact I learned recently, another name for the kookaburra is a laughing jackass! I guess someone didn’t like the sound.
minus-square@MataVatniklinkEnglish2•1 year agoI looked it up and it was likely a barred owl. I definitely heard a barred owl that night, did not know they also make monkey calls.
