to expand on this, I used the term moid in my original comment because I could see how my entire argument could be oversimplified to “not all men are assholes”, which is something moids say all the time when women complain about men.

“not all men are assholes”, which is something moids say all the time when women complain about men.

I’ll bite. To be fair, I’ve been cheated on by multiple women, technically raped (not legally, because in my jurisdiction it requires penile penetration to count as rape so coercive sex is legally “sexual assault” for women here,) by two different women, am I then allowed to think “all women are assholes/cheaters/rapists,” or do I have to understand what individuality is? I’ve been robbed by two black people, and had three friends robbed by black people, and one by a Puerto Rican dude, what’s the threshold that allows me to apply their actions to their entire groups?

Now before you immediately get defensive, I do not agree with the bad things used as examples above, I’m a good moid, my entire point is that generalizing an entire demographic isn’t “ok” just because that demographic is “men.” The people who say it is ok are perpetuating the “men aren’t allowed to have feelings” trope and thus the patriarchy. And so when people do say “all men are X” it’s not out of pocket to remind people that generalizations are in fact not EVER correct.

AND by the way, do trans men count in your “all men are X” equations? Because they should.

I think you misunderstood what you quoted.

I am not claiming “all men are assholes”. I pointed out a common moid behavior, and my desire to not be confused for such. “Not all men are assholes”, well no shit. Nobody making a good faith argument was saying otherwise. But without fail, when a woman who’s exasperated and tired of all this shit exclaims “I hate men!”, there will without fail be a moid there to remind her “not all men”.

We see the same thing from racists telling black people “all lives matter”. The statement is technically true, but is not said in good faith.

Right, you pointed out that “moids” often correct the harmful generalization (made by others, not you) as if that were a bad thing to do, and I’m saying it’s actually good to correct it.

Right, and when I’m exasperated at these unfaithful and rapey women and exclaim “I hate women” there will without fail be a “femoid” (if you want it put in -oids) or a “white knight” saying I’m an incel, but those women are no better nor worse than “me” (well my point is that I DON’T say that, so…), but they’re the same thought process.

We see the same thought processes from racists who say “13% pop/50% crime” and you are perpetuating it, but “that’s ok” to you because they broaden it from the historical “black men are rape beasts” to “all men are rape beasts.”

Oh I am, but it’s funny that any time you draw parallels between generalizations people will use “bad faith” as a cop out to pretend they still have a moral high ground while defending racist thought patterns.

              Be done, and do better.
