Still doesn’t make sense. Earth has low radiation to support life…
Even building a supporting passive cooling, water recycling + solar farm in a desert would cost less than unnumbered trips to the Moon and back. Switch is doing “fine” in the Nevada desert…
You need some maintenance crew to keep alive, you need to feed them (tho with their robotics maybe not).
Plus you would need to have the data transferred back to Earth - without letting the enemy reading / decoding it over time.
The thing with any moon infrastructure is that you first need to front an enormous investment to get it to the point where it’s still more expensive than just doing stuff on earth. Until you can produce the heavier components there it’s going to be pretty impractical to make anything at scale.
I would think putting them a few hundred meters under ground on Earth would still be orders of magnitude easier to do and get you like 90% of the way there to the same goals.
Why would they go to the Moon for that?
They have perfectly fine deserts that at least have oxygen and you can walk up to the buildings.
The theory is that moon caves have low enough radiation to run there

One other big reason is that datacenters are war targets and risk of espionage on the moon is low

China is close to a quantum computer which won’t be able to be cooled by water though
