Barring software patents (which are horrible and everyone suggesting them should be promptly thrown into an active volcano), you can’t make “software not free anymore” if it was once open source.
What you can do, however, is sue people using a certain code into oblivion regardless of whether you are actually in the right, as long as you are a big enough company with $$. Capitalism is fucked up like that.
Besides that, all you can do is force the community to fork a software & poach the project lead developers (hello Oracle you dumb f*cks)
